The redevelopment of Bracknell Town’s Larges Lane ground continues apace with the removal of one of the grounds most eye catching features.
The iconic red and white painted Quinton Stand has come down, BUT club officials have confirmed it will be replaced once building work is complete.

History
Original stand was built by volunteers during the 1990s – [I remember watching it’s construction on a cold winters night from the clubhouse – TC] and was given it’s distinctive red and white branding by the fans and then club secretary Malcolm Hutt in the early 2000s.

The Official Supporters Club decided it would be better painted red and white instead of the original grey colour and Malcolm supplied the paint with himself and several of the fans – Duds, the Canning family, Jeffsy and the Edwards family amongst others – spending a weekend painting it.
In 2002 the stand was officially named the ‘Jack Quinton stand’ in honour of the Robins late club president the following season was packed to the rafters with supporters as Bracknell hosted Conference side Barnet in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The stand was a favourite with home supporters who regularly congregated during the second half of fixtures under the stand.
The redevelopment
The removal of the stand is the latest part of Larges Lane to face the wrecking ball with the tea bar and boardroom already gone.
The pitch is expected to be removed in the next few weeks and made ready for the installation of an artificial surface

The redevelopment is expected to be complete at the end of September with Bracknell Town playing their Hellenic League fixtures at Sandhurst Town until then.
