Win or bust for Bracknell Town youth at home to Uxbridge tonight

This time last season it was a tense final game for Bracknell Town youth as they secured promotion and the championship in the Allied Counties Youth League South division.

Their final game tonight promises to be just as nerve-racking, but for very different reasons as they look for the win that will secure another season in the Premier Division at home to Uxbridge (ko 7.45pm).

The lowdown

Young Robins boss Dan Sleet saw his side beaten 3-1 in the previous meeting between the sides, and a lot may depend on the availability of top scorers Sean Hanley (pictured above) and Elias Hannibal who have seven goals each.

Both have made an impact on the first team this season with Hanley getting himself a couple of senior goals, but it is a very different game tonight for the young Robins who need a win to overhaul Uxbridge and out of the bottom three in the 11 team division.

Sleet should also be able to call upon captain George Lock now his first team commitments are complete.

Sleet’s side have won, drawn and lost their last three games with their last game a 1-1 draw with North Greenford United on Tuesday night.

It’s the final game of the season for Bracknell who must win the game to avoid finishing in the bottom three. Uxbridge are point above them on 18 but have a far superior goal difference.

Additionally, anything but a win would see Aylesbury jump ahead of them if the ducks beat point-less Windsor (and you have to think they will).

Permutations, what ifs

So, it’s win or bust. But as ever at this level of football there is always the potential for a reprieve through teams not wishing to come up or other sides resigning. The ACYL committee may also decide to increase the division to 12 teams at the AGM (this is purely a guess on our part though – call it clutching at straws).

It did happen last season to bottom side Ascot United who weren’t relegated.

In order to be first in line for one of these golden tickets, Bracknell need to finish third bottom, their current position. However, given that Aylesbury on 15 points (Bracknell are on 17 remember) have their final game against Windsor (goal difference -124) we’re back to BRACKNELL MUST WIN TONIGHT.

And if they do they’ll stay up automatically anyway.

Not forgetting Binfield

Binfield have a tense evening themselves. Their promotion dream is almost certainly over after a 5-2 defeat to Eversley & California on Tuesday but any feint hopes will remain alive if they beat Thatcham tonight.

Their hopes of promotion will then hinge on Moles still in with promo chance but results elsewhere STFC & E&C
